The DRPS PHCA opposes the government-led proposals to ban Facebook in the Philippines.
We have seen news reports involving a possible proposal to ban the Meta Platforms-led social media platform Facebook in the Philippines is in the process to study by the government “as a last resort” following a recommendation from the Criminal Investigation and Coordinating Center to ban the said platform over continuous dissemination of false and misleading news reports, deepfakes, and child safety concerns.
The DRPS Philippine Commercial Archives (DRPS PHCA), hereinafter known by the public as “DRPS PHCA” and “DRPS” wishes to oppose the proposal to ban the social media platform.
The DRPS PHCA had currently operated its main Facebook page, and a community group, DRPS PHCA Free, to deliver timely updates in Philippine Television and Entertainment media, as well as critical alerts from the NDRRMC’s Emergency Cell Broadcast.
Since 2023, the DRPS PHCA offered digital media updates to the public and updates to most ex-housemates of Pinoy Big Brother (Gen 11, Collab, and Collab 2.0), as well as special coverages and live updates to most Philippine Entertainment events and awarding ceremonies, such as the Star Magical Prom (2024 and 2026), the Star Magic Hot Summer (2024), the Star Magic All-Star Games (2025 and 2026), the Star Magical Christmas (2024 and 2025), the ABS-CBN Ball (2025), the GMA Gala (2024 and 2025), the Village Pipol Choice Awards (2026), the Entertainment Editors’ Choice Awards (2026), and the Metro Manila Film Festival (2025).
The DRPS PHCA also operated our video archive pages, including DRPS One, DRPS Two, and DRPS Three. All of which are also seen on the official YouTube channels of these pages, including DRPS Xtra.
If the government decided to ban Meta Platforms services in the Philippines, our online reach could be limited to YouTube (Community Tab), X/Twitter, and our websites, including DRPSPHCA.com and TVAL.DRPSPHCA.com.
In addition, the DRPS PHCA is also earning money from the advertisers on Facebook, as the DRPS PHCA and DRPS One pages are monetized through stars and content monetization programs.
If the ban could happen, the earnings could be possibly limited to the DRPS Two YouTube channel, which it returned back to the YouTube Partner Program back in late-June 2026. Recently, today, August 27, 2026, reapplied for the monetization of our other DRPS PHCA YouTube channels, including the DRPS One and DRPS Three channels, through the same YouTube Partner Program. These channels were previously demonetized in late-January 2026 following the DRPS Two Channel violated a portion of a YPP Policy.
However, recently, YouTube decided to approve the monetization of the DRPS One Channel, and to keep the DRPS Three Channel demonetized over a different policy involving reused content.
Further updates regarding the possible ban of several Meta Platforms services (Facebook, Instagram, and Threads) will soon become available.
You can still access DRPS PHCA on our social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X/Twitter, and on the DRPS PHCA App and Website.
The DRPS PHCA App is available for download on the Google Play Store for Android devices, and on the Huawei AppGallery for HarmonyOS-based Huawei devices.
