On October 15, 2026, GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs, the producers behind the 52nd Metro Manila Film Festival entry film Amir, partnered with Brightburn Entertainment and Columbia Pictures Philippines for the distribution of the fantasy-drama film headlined by Argus Aspiras, Dennis Trillo, Glaiza de Castro, and Will Ashley.
The 52nd MMFF entry film shared its official teaser-trailer video on the official social media pages of the filmmaker, which later received positive reviews and comments shared by netizens, as well as achieving more than 4 million online video views a few days after the video was released.
The film was helmed by the acclaimed filmmaker Zig Dulay, the man behind Firefly and Green Bones, with the screenplay written by National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee and multi-awarded writer Anj Atienza. The teaser shows a powerful, heartwarming narrative that follows young Amir and how we might see the world through the eyes of a child.
It has always been our privilege to work with such team partners as GMA Pictures. We’ve really had a lot of success with ‘Green Bones’ and ‘Gabi ng Lagim.’ And we always say it’s not about luck, it’s not about us; it’s really from the creative minds that put work on these pictures. And it’s always about the content, and we really appreciate the chance to represent ‘Amir’ in this upcoming MMFF, Columbia Pictures Philippines Managing Director Christopher Sy shared during the distribution signing event.
We’ve been entrusting our jewels to Columbia for these past years. We’re very excited for this movie because I think this will be our grandest movie to date. We hope again for the blessings of God for this movie, Annette Gozon-Valdes thanked Columbia Pictures Philippines for the film distribution of the fantasy-drama film.
Among the cast for the upcoming 52nd MMFF entry film were Caprice Cayetano, Epy Quizon, Joel Saracho, Ronnie Lazaro, Laila Ulao, Heath Jornales, Yasser Marta, Mad Ramos, Ethan Hariot, Hebron Ecal, and Mon Confiado.
