So on that day, we, DRPS PHCA, had conducted a TV Ad Listings for It’s Showtime on GMA (alongside Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and GTV) with the presence of it’s competitor – E.A.T./Eat Bulaga! that has been led by Tito, Vic and Joey on TV5 and RPTV. We will also talk about the TV Ratings and Online Viewership of these two shows as well.
NUMBER OF TV ADS, EXPLAINED.
After some tedious countings during the time that these two shows are broadcast, the numbers are highly unbelieveable – It’s Showtime on ABS-CBN and GMA-affiliated channels has aired 159 TV Ads (Gap 1: 29; Gap 2: 38; Gap 3: 46; Gap 4: 46), which is comparable to the first day of broadcast on GMA’s GTV last July 1, 2023, which had 122 TV Ads (on GTV only; Gap 1: 34; Gap 2: 18; Gap 3: 32; Gap 4: 19; and Gap 5: 19).
It is also comparable to E.A.T./Eat Bulaga!’s number of TV Ads via TV5 and RPTV, which only aired 85 TV Ads (Gap 1: 20; Gap 2: 22; Gap 3: 20; Gap 4: 23), which is why It’s Showtime on ABS-CBN and GMA Networks has 74 more TV Ads than those from the said competitor.
WHY THESE NUMBER OF TV ADS, HOW THEY ARE COUNTED, AND WHAT ABOUT THE SIMULCASTS PRIOR TO THIS?
The main reason why the number of TV Ads on GMA are the same as from those from Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and GTV (for It’s Showtime) and the ads on TV5 are also the same from RPTV as well (for E.A.T./Eat Bulaga!) is because we have checked each of the channels’ commercial breaks during these two shows in multiple displays that we can get access to these channels. For It’s Showtime, it has been determined via the DTV broadcasts of GMA, GTV and A2Z, and the iWantTFC’s live streaming of Kapamilya Channel, whereas for E.A.T./Eat Bulaga!, it has been determined via TV5 HD and RPTV online streaming of CignalPlay.
Back in September 1, 2023, we conducted a demonstrative TV Ad Listings of Senior High on Kapamilya Channel and A2Z/TV5, in order to provide better transparency on these channels and simulcasts, and it resulted 52 TV Ads on Kapamilya Channel and 46 TV Ads on A2Z/TV5. This similar countings through simulcast channels, however, was also done as well during the premiere week of Can’t Buy Me Love on these channels mentioned back in October 16 to 20, 2023, which resulted 68 TV Ads on Kapamilya Channel and 62 TV Ads on A2Z/TV5 vs. Love Before Sunrise’s 21 TV Ads on GMA (these figures mentioned are for the same timeslot only).
The TV Ad Listings we’ve made since it’s first one last February 2023 (involving FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’s Premiere on TV5 and Maria Clara at Ibarra on GMA) are using our own ways – based on the length of each of the TV Ad was aired, and using the name of the product involved in the ad aired. The data is using our own TV Ad Archive YouTube Channel, DRPS One Channel, to determine these ads from where that they have been broadcast during the commercial break.
WHAT ABOUT THE TV RATINGS OF THESE SHOWS, INCLUDING THE NUMBER OF TV ADS OF IT’S SHOWTIME AND E.A.T./EAT BULAGA! LAST JULY 1, 2023? COMPARE THE ADS AND RATINGS FROM THE SAID DAY AND THE APRIL 6, 2024 ONE.
July 1, 2023 was the big day in Philippine Noontime Television, It’s Showtime began it’s broadcast on GTV and TV5 premiered E.A.T. with TVJ on that day, with TAPE’s Eat Bulaga! was still broadcast on GMA. Advertisers are measured by us and TV Ratings are also based on the following hours till days.
In terms of Advertisers, as what we’ve counted at that time, It’s Showtime aired 122 TV Ads on GTV (not including A2Z and Kapamilya Channel at the time being), while 112 TV Ads are aired on TV5’s E.A.T./Eat Bulaga! and 42 TV Ads on TV5 for TAPE’s Eat Bulaga! on GMA. In comparison, if you compare with the April 6, 2024 episode of It’s Showtime on GMA, It’s Showtime on GTV, A2Z and Kapamilya Channel, and E.A.T./Eat Bulaga! on TV5 and RPTV, it aired 47 more TV Ads for It’s Showtime on GTV, A2Z and Kapamilya Channel than those from the July 1, 2023, 117 more TV Ads for It’s Showtime on GMA than TAPE’s Eat Bulaga! on that date, and 27 less TV Ads for E.A.T./Eat Bulaga! on TV5 and RPTV than those from the premiere day on TV5.
The TV Ratings, as based from Nielsen’s Data for April 6, 2024, has said that It’s Showtime has been voted by 9.6% of their audiences (c. Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, GMA and GTV), compared to E.A.T./Eat Bulaga!’s 4.4% (c. TV5 and RPTV).
For per channel side, for It’s Showtime, the 9.6% audiences voted for it was a combination of GMA’s 6.8%, GTV’s 1.2%, A2Z’s 1.0%, and Kapamilya Channel’s 0.6%. It is comparable to E.A.T./Eat Bulaga!’s per channel TV Ratings, which is 4.0% on TV5 and 0.4% on RPTV.
In comparison, for the July 1, 2023 episode of It’s Showtime, E.A.T./Eat Bulaga!, and TAPE’s Eat Bulaga!, which has been voted by 8.4% (E.A.T/Eat Bulaga! on TV5), 3.94% (It’s Showtime, with 2.39% on GTV; 1.28% on A2Z; and 0.27% Kapamilya Channel), and 2.62% (TAPE’s Eat Bulaga! on GMA) respectively (as based by Nielsen’s Data on that day), E.A.T./Eat Bulaga on TV5 and RPTV Combined has been voted 4.0% less than the July 1, 2023 episode on TV5 only, but It’s Showtime has been voted 5.66% higher (c. Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, GMA and GTV) vs. GTV premiere last July 1, 2023 (c. Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and GTV), with the 6.8% ratings of It’s Showtime on GMA has shown an 4.18% increase of TV Ratings compared to TAPE’s Eat Bulaga! on GMA alone last July 1, 2023.
WHAT ABOUT THE ONLINE VIEWERSHIP?
On Kapamilya Online Live, Showtime Online U, Kapuso Stream, and iWantTFC, it managed almost 524.3 thousand concurrent viewers (combined from the said channel’s live stream services mentioned above, source: X/ItsShowtimeNa). The hashtag “#ShowtimeSanibPwersa” was also trending nationwide on X, along with some of the related terms and tags, particularly “#ShowtimeSaGMA”. This is comparable with E.A.T./Eat Bulaga!’s concurrent viewership of about 144 thousand (source: X/LionhearTVNet, peak record of April 6, 2024 at 13h20 PHST UTC+8).
About 77.45 million views has shown to view It’s Showtime on GMA’s beginnings in just 24 hours from the time was happened (April 6, 2024) (source: FB/KapamilyaKingdom, where 35.37 million are from TikTok, 2.4 million on YouTube, 23.26 million on Facebook, 10 million on X, and 6.38 on Instagram). Within the time that It’s Showtime was broadcast (11h30 to 14h30), it has been viewed by over three million views – that’s 2.1 million views from E.A.T./Eat Bulaga! (source: FB/KapamilyaKingdom).
