Kapuso TV and Film Actress and Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado unveiled her multi-genre album under the ABS-CBN recording arm Star Music, titled “JEN” Deluxe, accompanied by a short film that explores the essence of love and reflects her personal journey.
The album’s title was derived from the Kapuso singer-actress’ nickname, and it featured eight songs, including two of the latest tracks added to the album, “Tutuloy Pa Ba?” and “Hindi Man Masabi”. Also included were “Paulit Ulit Kang Pipiliin”, “Sa Gitna”, “Hihintayin Kita”, “Kung Nandito Ka Pa”, “Ayaw Pang Umuwi”, and “Hindi Pa Rin Sapat”, which are all part of the original “JEN” extended play released in May 2025, serving as her comeback in the music industry after nine years.
Jennylyn also shared that there are dances made for Generation Z (“Gen Z”), love songs where the hugot love songs come from, and are never taken away. Merong masakit, merong masaya. Sinigurado namin lahat ng genre meron para ma-enjoy ng lahat, Jennylyn added.
The short film, featuring Jennylyn’s husband and Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo, showed that the album’s music translated into an immersive cinematic narrative about her personal experiences. She also revealed that the short film was based on her own life and how she started out with struggles and emotions. Irene Villamor directed the film, and You Me Us produced it.

Following the intense success of her previous dance-pop single, Hot Mara Clara, Kapuso star Sanya Lopez, known for her appearance in the 2024 Kapuso primetime drama Pulang Araw, reveals a deeply intimate and vulnerable side of herself with the newly released single under GMA Music’s recording label, GMA Playlist, titled Laro.
The alternative pop song delves into the melancholic realm and is characterized by catchy melodies and deeply relatable storytelling, delivering an emotional reflection on situationships, unconditional devotion, and the painful realization of unrequited love.
At that time, I was recording a Japanese song for Pulang Araw, and habang naka-standby ako, kinausap ako ni Ms. Rocky [Gacho] about doing another single. Sabi ko sa kanya, if ever gagawa ulit ako ng song, gusto ko sana about situationships or relationships that a lot of people can relate to. ‘Yung tipong you gave your whole heart to someone, you genuinely loved that person, but in the end, you realize na hindi pala siya ‘yung right person for you. Mapapaisip ka na lang, ‘Bakit kailangan pa siyang dumaan sa buhay ko kung hindi rin pala kami para sa isa’t isa?’ Sanya shared her experience in composing and creating the song.
She also shared that she underwent dedicated vocal coaching before stepping into the recording booth. Sanya explained that she had worked on her voice to help her clarity in singing and to improve her confidence.
But more than anything, I really tried to understand the story behind ‘Laro’ and sing it with the right emotions. For me, it’s not just about hitting the notes; it’s about making people feel the message of the song, Sanya explains about her voice coaching.
The Kapuso artist hopes that the song will serve as a source of comfort and empowerment for listeners navigating emotional crossroads.
What I really hope is that everyone who listens to ‘Laro,’ especially those who are going through heartbreak, will realize that it’s okay. I hope this helps them move forward and reminds them that everything they went through was part of the process. I also hope this song reminds everyone that there’s nothing wrong with loving. There’s nothing wrong with giving your heart to someone, even if it didn’t work out. Hindi ibig sabihin na may kulang sa iyo. Sometimes, that experience is exactly what helps you grow into a stronger and better version of yourself, Sanya concluded about her latest single.
ESCA 2026 PHSN Performer Sassa Dagdag drops bold single Alamat ng Baga under DNA Music
A few days ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026’s Philippine Selection Night on August 30, 2026, Sassa Dagdag, one of the performers for the entry song Di Yan (Red Flag), channels confidence, grit, and resilience in her new single released under the ABS-CBN Music recording label DNA Music, titled Alamat ng Baga.
Fueled by powerful lyrics and an unapologetic attitude, Alamat ng Baga is a fiery hip-hop anthem about refusing to be defined by criticism and choosing to turn setbacks into motivation. Michael Negapatan, Venzon Malubay, and label head Gab Tagadtad co-wrote the song.
Sassa, known as a finalist of The Voice Kids Philippines Season 2 under Team Bamboo, debuted as a recording artist in 2017 with her EP Sassy Sassa, featuring Itatago Na Lang and Kumakaba. She also showcased her versatility through Pasensya Ka Na, Picking Petals, and Hulog Ni Bathala. Sassa also gained online reach through her viral cover of Flow G’s Rapstar, which achieved more than 3.7 million online views on her TikTok account.
Sassa, together with Jason Dy, will perform the entry song composed by Jason Marvin, Di Yan (Red Flag), during the Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026’s Philippine Selection Night, taking place on August 30, 2026.
