It was on January 7, 2025 when Joey Salceda, Albay’s House Representative for 2nd District, has filed a bill (with HB No. 11252) to grant a 25-year franchise renewal to ABS-CBN Corporation, in which the previous franchise was expired in May 5, 2020 that caused it’s on-air platforms into a halt on that day, following the issuance of a Case and Desist order by the National Telecommunications Commission.
In this House Bill, he explained that the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Bureau of Internal Revenue, during house deliberations on the network’s franchise renewal certified that the grantee did not violate the ownership restrictions, and did not have any pending tax liabilities.
In addition, ABS-CBN, in a recent PR post, was not aware of his filing of a bill to grant this franchise renewal, including the other bills involving it that filed by others (namely Gabriel Bordado Jr., Arlene Brosas, France Castro, Raoul Manuel, Johnny Pimentel, and Rufus Rodriguez), the network is deeply grateful and belief in the contributions to the Kapamilya Network and it’s mission to serve the Filipino Public.
