DRPS PHCA Free Tech News: An update about GCash and Maya’s removal of gambling-related links from their apps

This is an update about our previous post about the removal of the links relating to online gambling services, as ordered by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) in accordance to their recent memorandum, with number M-2025-029.

In a recent advisory from GCash and Maya, these two e-wallet giants, along with those in BSP-supervised institutions, will comply to the said memorandum to put all in-app gambling access from these apps removed. Thus, the “Games” feature on the GCash app (through GLife) and it’s button on the Maya app will be taken down effective August 16, 2025 at 20h00.

Users of online gambling sites signed up or logged in from these apps are required to withdraw their online gambling funds back to their GCash and/or Maya wallets on or before the scheduled take down time, otherwise, they can contact with the provider’s customer support.

If you want to continue playing these services instead, then you can keep the funds in, but you should must access through the official mobile app or website of the gambling site, rather than those from GCash and Maya.

Remember: Gambling, whether it is an online or on-site service, is intended for 21 years of age and beyond only. Gambling can be addictive – KNOW WHEN TO STOP. Game responsibly and keep it fun. Learn more at PAGCOR’s Responsible Gaming website.
