After eleven years since the last installment of Regal Entertainment’s horror film franchise “Shake, Rattle & Roll” premiered as an MMFF entry film (Shake, Rattle & Roll XV from 2014), and after over two years since the previous season of the film (as a non-entry film) entitled “Extreme” (released November 29, 2023) released in cinemas, the latest iteration of SRR, which is called “Evil Origins”, was premiered last Christmas Day 2025.
The film drew record crowds and sold-out box office when it premiered on December 25, 2025, and was awarded Best Visual Effects (under Santelmo, Inc.) at the 51st MMFF’s Gabi ng Parangal, held on December 27, 2025, at Dusit Thani Manila, Makati City, along with seven nominations linked to the film.
More people reacted positively to the film, mostly the “2025” episode, which stars JM Ibarra, Fyang Smith, Dylan Yturralde, Francine Diaz, Seth Fedelin, Althea Ablan, Sassa Gurl, Karina Bautista, Arkin Lagman, Alex Calleja, Manilyn Reynes, and Kaila Estrada. Moviegoers of the film have spoken, saying it was a “must-watch” movie of the 51st Metro Manila Film Festival. You can’t watch this horror film by yourself, right?
Regal Entertainment and the production team behind the film extend their heartfelt gratitude to those who have seen this horror film, especially the fans of each episode’s stars (1775, i.e., Carla Abellana, Janice de Belen, Loisa Andalio, Ysabel Ortega, Ashley Ortega, Elijah Alejo, Ara Mina, and Arlene Muhlach, and 2050, i.e., Richard Gutierrez, Ivana Alawi, Manilyn Reynes, Dustin Yu, Matt Lozano, Celyn David, Sarah Edwards, Maika Rivera, Raven Rigor, Angelica Lao, and Shecko Apostol).
Regal Entertainment considers SRR: Evil Origins a success due to the production quality, overall performances of the film’s cast, and, among many other reasons, that the “Shake, Rattle & Roll” franchise has to offer. The film production company will remain committed to providing more high-quality Filipino films in the future, especially in 2026.
To date (as of January 8, 2026), the horror film is still showing across over a hundred cinemas nationwide. The 51st Metro Manila Film Festival will run from December 25, 2025, until January 14, 2026. It had grossed over PHP 110 million since its premiere – the second top-grossing film among the other eight entry films of the 51st MMFF. SRR: Evil Origins is directed by Shugio Praico for the “1775” (past) segment, Joey de Guzman for the “2025” (present) segment, and Ian Loreños for the “2050” segment.
Furthermore, as what the people saw on the premiere day of the film, JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith, who are among the cast of the movie for the “2025” segment (respectively played as James and DJ Elle), and known as ex-housemates of Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11 (2024), will also be part of the upcoming film titled “IRL”. Like “Shake, Rattle & Roll Evil Origins”, the film was also produced by Regal Entertainment, and it is co-produced with Project 8 Projects.
Shake, Rattle & Roll Evil Origins is rated R-13 (only people aged 13 years old and above can watch this film) by the MTRCB.
