The forthcoming 42nd PMPC Star Awards for Movies, organized by the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) and EV Production and Events, has recently announced a complete list of Filipino movies released throughout the year 2025 and the related artists who appeared in each film that were nominated for each category, with its awards night taking place at the Winford Resort and Casino Manila, scheduled for October 25, 2026 (Sunday).
The 42nd PMPC Star Awards for Movies named most of the 51st Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry films, including 901 Studios’ Bar Boys After School, ABS-CBN Star Cinema-IdeaFirst-Viva Films’ Call Me Mother, Cignal-MQuest Ventures’ Manila’s Finest, Nathan Studios’ ImPerfect, and Quantum Films-Cineko Productions’ UnMarry, as well as TBA Studios’ Quezon, Studio Three Sixty’s The Delivery Rider, as the nominees for Movie of the Year.
For Indie Movie of the Year, the nominees are: Habang Nilalamon Ng Hydra Ang Kasaysayan (Cinemalaya Foundation, Sine Metu Media Productions, Nathan Studios); Journeyman (Black Toro Productions); Lasting Moments (Passion 5 Studios); Olsen’s Day (Clever Minds, JG Productions); Sana Sinabi Mo (Netflix, Project 8 Projects); Song Of The Fireflies (Culturtain Musicat Productions, MQuest Ventures, CMB Film Services); and Sunshine (Anima, Cloudy Duck Pictures, Happy Infinite Productions, Project 8 Projects).
JM de Guzman (Lasting Moments), Vice Ganda (Call Me Mother), Joshua Garcia (Meet Greet Bye), Baron Geisler (The Delivery Rider), Piolo Pascual (Manila’s Finest), Jericho Rosales (Quezon), and JC Santos (Journeyman) were nominated for the Movie Actor of the Year award.
For the Movie Actress of the Year, the nominees are: Mylene Dizon (Habang Nilalamon Ng Hydra Ang Kasaysayan), Bela Padilla (100 Awit Para Kay Stella), Angelica Panganiban (UnMarry), Maris Racal (Sunshine), Charo Santos-Concio (Only We Know), and Maricel Soriano (Meet Greet Bye).
Meanwhile, “Megastar” Sharon Cuneta and veteran actor Rez Cortez will receive the Nora Aunor Ulirang Artista Lifetime Achievement Award. Former movie producer Alex Muhlach will also receive the Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula sa Likod ng Kamera Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Hall of Fame awardees at the 42nd PMPC Star Awards for Movies were: “Star for All Seasons” Vilma Santos-Recto, sound engineer Albert Michael Idioma, and veteran screenwriter and National Artist Ricky Lee, all of whom have received different awards in each category ten (10) times, including Movie Actress of the Year, Movie Sound Engineer of the Year, and Movie Screenwriter of the Year, respectively. As for the Star for All Seasons, Vilma Santos-Recto was the first actress to receive a Hall of Fame award for the Movie Actress of the Year category.
The officials and members of the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC), headed by its president, Fernan de Guzman, organized the 42nd PMPC Star Awards for Movies together with this year’s Chairman of the Star Awards for Movies, Melba Llanera. The “Revival King” Jojo Mendez and EV Production and Events helmed the awarding ceremony. Vivian Poblete Blancaflor serves as the director for the awards night.

Speaking of, Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition Kapamilya ex-housemates Bianca de Vera and Esnyr Ranollo double the laughs and spooks ahead of Halloween as they go twinning, both as “manananggal,” in a new microdrama offering on iWant directed by Julius Alfonso, Half Sisters, with all episodes released today, September 25, 2026.
Marking their first vertical series featuring themselves, and also the first under the production of Star Creatives, the production entity of ABS-CBN Star Cinema behind their previous series featuring the ex-housemates of PBB Collab, The Secrets of Hotel 88, they bring their twin energy as “manananggal” siblings Emily (Bianca de Vera) and Ramon (Esnyr Ranollo).
Also featuring in the microdrama series is the Kapamilya Big Winner of the first-ever season of Pinoy Big Brother, under a collaboration between ABS-CBN and GMA, Brent Manalo, playing the siblings’ love interest, alongside co-ex-housemate Xyriel Manabat and actor Petite.
The premise of the vertical drama follows Ramon’s revelation of their supernatural selves; Emily couldn’t accept it at first, but she will eventually become a “manananggal”. Beyond their bodies, their bond is at risk of splitting when they share a deep liking for Pancho (Brent Manalo).

The eight-episode iWant original, which premiered on June 20, 2025, follows Uno (Emilio Daez), a basketball varsity captain who loses his spot on the team after a violent incident, until he joins the boys’ volleyball team, made up of proud and openly LGBTQIA+ students.
Apart from Emilio, River, Reign, and Sean, the series also stars Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11 ex-housemates Dylan Yturalde, Rain Celmar, and Binsoy Namoca, Pinoy Big Brother: Connect ex-housemate Andi Abaya, Pinoy Big Brother: Otso alum Sky Quizon, then-Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026 performer Lance Reblando, and Sparks Camp campers Universe Ramos, Miggy Ruallo, Nick de Ocampo, and Bong Gonzales, as well as Adrian Alandy, Meryll Soriano, Jude Hinumdum, Gio Alvarez, and Alwyn Uytingco.
The show also earned praise for its progressive themes of acceptance, gender equality, and shedding light on the struggles of student-athletes, including those in the LGBTQIA+ community.

The Loyalty Game levels up with new scenes; Always Yours Never Mine goes global; Chika Cart is coming to GTV
The Loyalty Game, one of the ABS-CBN Studios and Star Creatives-produced offerings that dropped on Prime Video back in July 2026, will level up with more new scenes and untold stories to uncover via iWant 7 days in advance, beginning on September 28, 2026, and on-air on October 5, 2026.
The Kapamilya series offers a fuller and richer viewing experience that features additional scenes, extended storylines, and character backstories not seen on Prime Video, similar to past original series that were later released on-air, such as Linlang: The Teleserye Version, Saving Grace: The Untold Story, and The Alibi: Ang Buong Katotohanan.
Directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar, Ian Loreños, Raymund Ocampo, and Cathy Garcia-Sampana, The Loyalty Game was among the most-watched series on Prime Video Philippines since its premiere, with its cast earning praise for portraying complex and challenging characters. It is also among the offerings of ABS-CBN Studios to release on Prime Video, including The Silent Noise, Love Is Never Gone, and the most recent Honor Thy Mother.
Headlining the series were Jericho Rosales and Janine Gutierrez, who will play a married couple, Ben and Ana. Their seemingly stable relationship begins to unravel when a test of loyalty exposes dangerous secrets. Jericho shared, during a media conference, that the on-air version of the series will reveal more layers of the characters and their relationships not seen on Prime Video.
There would be more twists, and the plots and backstories are fleshed out. Mas magandang viewing pleasure, he said.
Janine also added that The Loyalty Game: Level Up will finally reveal who the loyalty testers are, whose stories left audiences with questions after watching the Prime Video counterpart of the series.

Jay Fernando, the creative manager behind the series, stated that the longer version gives audiences even more time with the characters, offering new context and a deeper understanding of their choices and motivations.
Also joining the series is Charlie Dizon as Ben’s sister, Regina, and Maika Rivera and Kira Balinger will serve as the loyalty testers. Among the remaining cast for the series were Sofia Andres, Yassi Pressman, Yen Santos, Elisse Joson, Karina Bautista, KD Estrada, Robbie Jaworski, Alyanna Angeles, and Carmina Villarroel, with veteran actors Carlitos Siguion-Reyna, Bernard Palanca, Desiree del Valle, and Pilar Pilapil.
The Loyalty Game: Level Up premieres on October 5, 2026, at 21:30 (after Someone Someday), on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, ALLTV, A2Z, TV5, and The Filipino Channel (TFC). iWant subscribers may watch the series seven days ahead of the on-air broadcast.
Meanwhile, Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto are heading to London and Madrid for the European special screenings of their forthcoming Cathy Garcia-Sampana-directed Star Cinema film, Always Yours Never Mine, scheduled to release across all Philippine cinemas on September 30, 2026.
Apart from the Philippine release of the film, Star Cinema said that it is also set to reach global audiences in parts of the Americas, the Arab World, Europe, and Oceania, in October and November.
The premise of the romantic-drama film, which spans three decades, follows Apollo (Joshua) and Luna (Julia)’s lives as they intersect at different points in time. Each reunion presents a choice, with every decision shaping the paths they take and the lives they leave behind.

Apart from the Philippine release of Always Yours Never Mine, it is scheduled to be released in the Arab World (Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates) and Oceania (Australia and New Zealand) on October 22, 2026; in the Americas (United States, Canada, and Guam) on October 23, 2026; and in several countries in Europe, including the United Kingdom and Austria on October 31, 2026; and Spain, France, and Italy on November 1, 2026.
The lead stars will also head to the Genesis Cinema in London and the Palacio de la Prensa Cinema in Madrid for a special screening and meet-and-greet sessions, taking place on the day of the film’s release in each country (at 10:00 and 13:00 for the UK screening, and at 13:00 and 18:00 for the Spain screening).
Furthermore, after the premiere of Kalurks on September 13, 2026, GMA Network will deliver another chikahan and tsismisan offering on GTV that delivers the most trending showbiz scoop and exciting product features beginning on September 28, 2026, titled Chika Cart, the newest multi-platform show.
The show will feature a “cart-ful” of updates on the hottest showbiz personalities, led by the Chika Authority Jeff Fernando, a respected showbiz and celebrity journalist who has experience in the media industry for more than three decades.
Joining the show is the Chika Influencer and Content Creator-Influencer-Actress Baninay Bautista, known for her warm, candid, and comedic storytelling that makes her a sought-after host for various campaigns when it comes to lifestyle, entertainment, and digital media. Baninay recently joined GMA Sparkle as an artist for Status By Sparkle on May 12, 2026.
Completing the bridge between entertainment and lifestyle in the digital show is Chika Beshy, and host-comedian Donita Nose also joins Jeff and Baninay in the program and will deliver her witty banter and energetic charisma to audiences watching the show.

Furthermore, online viewers may continue the excitement as the hosts share more of their stories and detail all about the products featured on the show through the Chika Cart Online After Show. The 30-minute online show, titled “Add Pa More”, also has direct links to products available for purchase on their online marketplaces.
Chika Cart airs via GTV every weekday (from Monday to Friday) beginning on September 28, 2026, at 17:15, before Usap-Usapan: What We Know So Far. The online counterpart, Chika Cart: Add Pa More, will drop on the official YouTube and TikTok accounts of Adventure Taste Moments at 18:00.
