DRPS PHCA CHECK: Is it true that ABS-CBN will be back on-air via Channel 3? No.

Picture

Recently, we’ve seen several Facebook posts on the Internet claiming that once the Franchise of ABS-CBN has been renewed, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) will assign on Channel 3 on Analog (the channel assignment from 1953 to 1969), as well as on Channels 22 and 24 for the Digital Transmission. These news has been circulated by a number of people on Facebook, like from “Rowena” as seen on this post.

Our verdict is FALSE – Because there is no such news from ABS-CBN, including the National Telecommunications Commission that it will be assigned to Channel 3 on Analog and Channels 22 and 24 on Digital. To date, the Franchise Renewal Bill for ABS-CBN, with House Bill no. 11252 as filed by Albay Representative Joey Salceda, has been passed the first reading last January 13, 2025.

At this time, ABS-CBN shows is being seen on several local platforms on-air and online, through Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and TV5 for most shows (i.e. Primetime Shows, Weekend Shows, and etc.), and on GMA and ALLTV for selected shows (i.e. It’s Showtime on GMA and ALLTV aside from KapCha and A2Z, and TV Patrol, TV Patrol Express, and TV Patrol Weekend on ALLTV, aside from KapCha and A2Z). It is also available online through Kapamilya Online Live and iWantTFC, and through pay TV platforms from Creative Programs – ANC, Teleradyo Serbisyo, Cinemo, Jeepney TV, and etc.

If you have seen any posts that the Kapamilya Channel will return on Analog Channel 3 and Digital Channels 22 and 24, then this is FALSE and MISLEADING. Don’t be fooled – since analog is now a thing of the past and digital is now a thing in Philippine Over-the-air TV.
